Opuwo est la porte d'entrée de la région du Kaokoveld (située dans la partie nord-ouest de la Namibie). Cet endroit reculé, au sud du Kunene, est le pays des Himbas, peuple qui a conservé sa culture et ses traditions ethniques, loin de toute influence étrangère dans le Kaokoland.

Opuwo Country Hotel was officially opened by His Excellency, Hifikipunyu Pohamba on 25 August 2005. The hotel provides comfortable luxury accommodation with air conditioning and will be ideal base from where to explore Kaokoland.
